The Oppo A3 was unveiled in China on Tuesday (July 2). The new A-series smartphone arrives just a few months after the business debuted the Oppo A3 Pro in its home nation. The Oppo A3 comes in three colours and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 5G chipset, which has up to 12GB of RAM and a maximum storage capacity of 512GB. Other notable features of the Oppo A3 include a 5,000mAh battery, a 50-megapixel dual back camera unit, 45W charging compatibility, and an IP65-rated design.

The dual-SIM (Nano) Oppo A3 runs ColorOS 14.0 and features a 6.7-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,412 pixels) AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, 394ppi pixel density, and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The display is said to provide 600nits of manual peak brightness and up to 1,200nits of peak brightness in sunlight. It features an octa-core 6nm Snapdragon 695 5G processor, 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and 512GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The onboard memory can be practically increased up to 24GB by utilising unused storage.

The Oppo A3 features a dual back camera arrangement that includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor with autofocus and a 2-megapixel portrait camera.The phone features an 8-megapixel selfie camera and an IP65-rated design.

The Oppo A3 supports 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, Beidou, Glonass, Galileo, GPS, QZSS, and has a USB Type-C port. The sensors on board are an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, colour temperature sensor, gravity sensor, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, and proximity sensor. It has an in-display fingerprint scanner and supports facial recognition.

The Oppo A3 features a 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging capabilities. The battery is expected to last up to four years, and the fast charging technology can charge the battery from zero to fifty percent in 30 minutes. Ten minutes of charging is said to provide up to 1.53 hours of video playback duration.

The OPPO A3 is available in Tranquillity Black, Aurora Purple, and Mountain Stream Green and is priced at 1599 yuan (USD 219 / Rs. 18,365 approx.) for the 8GB + 256GB model, 1799 yuan (USD 147 / Rs. 20,660 approx.) for the 12GB + 256GB model, and 2099 yuan (USD 288 / Rs. 24,110 approx.).

Pros

  • Battery Life: Long-lasting battery with 5000mAh capacity and 67W quick charging capability. You can expect to get a full day’s use out of a single charge, and fast charging will get you back up and running quickly.
  • Camera: A versatile camera system for a variety of photographic applications. It features a dual back camera system with a 64MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The front-facing camera is 8 Megapixel.
  • 5G Connectivity: Support for 5G networks ensures future-proofing, allowing you to enjoy the fastest mobile data speeds possible.

Cons

  • Average Front Camera: The 8MP front-facing camera is only average and may not be appropriate for individuals who frequently snap selfies or video calls.
  • No Expandable Storage: The Oppo A3 Pro lacks a microSD card slot for additional storage. This means you’ll need to select the storage option that best meets your requirements (256GB or 512GB).
  • The Oppo A3 Pro does not include a 3.5mm headphone jack. This means you’ll need to utilise either wireless or USB-C headphones.

Overall, the Oppo A3 Pro is an excellent choice for anyone searching for a mid-range smartphone that strikes a nice balance between features and pricing. It features a huge AMOLED display, a long-lasting battery, and 5G connectivity. However, the front-facing camera is only decent, and there is neither expandable storage or headphone port.
